CAROLINA BEACH, N.C., Dec. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar concept started with humble beginnings in 2007, but co-founders Matt Piccinin and Sean Cook have become regional restaurateurs quickly gaining national attention. Through consistent delivery of fresh oysters and shrimp, along with a wide selection of high-quality spirits and craft beer, Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar is now expanding nationally from its home base of Carolina Beach, NC via franchising.
After establishing two prototype stores over seven years, Piccinin and Cook launched Shuckin’ Shack Franchising, LLC in March of 2014, along with experienced franchise developer Greg George, who signed their first franchisees less than a month later. Over the last eight months, Shuckin’ Shack Franchise has surged to over 15 store commitments across the Carolinas, with interest coming from as far away as California. Recently secured markets include: Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington, Morehead City, Charleston SC, Greenville SC, and additional coastal locations. The group projects to open five to ten of those locations within the next nine months. “We want to continue our regional growth and expand within the Carolinas, first; we fully expect to continue our expansion outside of North Carolina and South Carolina, but with very measured and sustainable goals in doing so,” says Jonathan Weathington, the CEO.
Shuckin’ Shack attributes their success to a mantra that is plastered all over the walls of their offices – Keep it simple. Not only does Shuckin’ Shack fit a unique niche of a dive bar concept serving great seafood, but they also offer advantages and incentives to business prospects. The franchise seeks pub spaces that are small but with unique characteristics, often small enough for one or two people to operate on their own.
