North Carolina’s Mountain-to-Sea trail is ambitious – for those who want to create it, those who want to map it out and especially those who want to hike it. We’re proud to see the planning and execution of this trail making progress, for it will help preserve our natural beauty and bring in tourism dollars.
The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources announced in December that it has hired a consultant for $120,000 to develop a master plan in 2015 for completing the 1,000-mile trail, The News Observer of Raleigh reported recently. So far, only 600 miles of the trail have been completed.
