Aquinas duo Cisrow, Hart commit to Utah

The hysteria that is the build up to National Signing Day never ceases and it was evident Sunday when St. Thomas Aquinas teammates Tyson Cisrow and Chris Hart both committed to the University of Utah.

Landing Hart, the Sun Sentinel’s No. 13 recruit in Broward County and Cisrow, ranked at No. 39, reaffirms’s Utah bid to establish itself as an option for South Florida talent. It was around this time a year ago when the Utes recruited Miramar defensive back Andre Godfrey.

“It was planned but we wanted to look around for a little bit,” Cisrow said. “Once we went on our officials, we thought it would be great.”

Both Cisrow and Hart made their announcements on Twitter within a minute of each other.

At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Cisrow was the general of Aquinas’ secondary en route to its eighth state championship. Hart, who is 6-3 and 242 pounds, he can be deployed at defensive end and at linebacker.

Cisrow said he visited Salt Lake City when Utah defeated Southern California on Oct. 25. Hart visited campus about a week or two later, he said.

“It was just nice all around,” Cisrow said. “It was a great experience. The game atmosphere was great. The Utes are just doing great things right now.”

Utah finished the season 9-4 and won its bow game over Colorado State.

Their commitments are what’s expected to kickoff what could be a continuation of announcements made by Aquinas players.

St. Thomas has 14 players ranked by the Sun Sentinel in the Class of 2015. Receiver/tight end Devante Peete remains as the most notable Aquinas player without a commitment.

Cisrow and Hart’s commitment comes days after Raiders coach Rocco Casullo shockingly stepped down from the program.

“It’s sad but they have to move on and do what they have to do,” Cisrow said. “I was on my way to my basketball game Saturday and I talked to Coach Casullo, who was getting his things out of his office. He said things are great with his family and he wishes me the best. I liked Coach Casullo. He did a lot for me and he has to move on in his life.”

BARGAS DECOMMITS FROM WAKE FOREST

St. Andrew’s tight end Jake Bargas also made news Sunday when he decommitted from Wake Forest.

Bargas, a Sun Sentinel first-team selection in Palm Beach County, said he is likely to make a new pledge to a program by Monday evening at the latest.

“I’m being recruited and I am not going to make my announcement yet,” Bargas said. “Wake Forest is an unbelievable university and the coaching staff was great. I just feel there is a better fit for me and that’s why there was a decommitment.”

The Sun Sentinel’s No. 4 prospect in Palm also has offers from Boston Duke, Cincinatti, Louisville and was recently visited by North Carolina.

FOREST HILL’S PUGH CHOOSES IDAHO

Forest Hill running back Calvary Pugh was the first area player to commit this weekend when he announced his verbal to the University of Idaho.

Pugh, who also had an offer from Bryant University, took an official visit to Idaho this weekend.

It isn’t the first time in recent memory Idaho has found talent in South Florida. Former Palm Beach Central defensive lineman Max Martial is a junior at Idaho after he transferred from Iowa Western Community College. Idaho also recruited senior linebacker Irving Steele. The former Stranahan star also went to Idaho after transferring from Ellsworth Community College.
