More Grief Counselors Added to Staff at App State

BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University is adding additional counselors to help students deal with the deaths of nine students this school year.

The school has added two full-time and two part-time counselors so far with plans to add two more part-time positions this week. The university is also extending the hours of the campus counseling center.

Of the deaths on campus, four happened in traffic accidents, two students committed suicide, one student overdosed on drugs and the other two remain under investigation.
