From its humble beginnings in New Bern, N.C., the iconic blue-labeled soda Pepsi is the United States’ second most popular soft drink, per Beverage Digest’s Annual Industry report.
Although, Coca Cola still holds the reigns of America’s most popular soft drink, Pepsi outedged Diet Coke for the No. 2 spot.
A New Bern store employee told TWC News that the city gets a lot of tourism exposure from the sugary refreshment:
“We get people here from literally all over the world to come to New Bern to visit the birthplace of Pepsi, and that survey shows what we who work here already know, that people love Pepsi and that the Pepsi life is growing amongst people in the world,” he said.
…
“I told somebody yesterday that if a doctor told me that Pepsi would kill me if I drink another can, everybody would know that I died happy,” said Thomas.
