Margaret Ann White Brickell

Margaret Ann White Brickell passed quietly on Friday, March 27, 2015. Margaret was born July 1st, 1933 in Evanston, Illinois. She grew up in Dallas, Texas. She received degrees in both English and Theatre at University of Mississippi. After Margaret and her family moved to Raleigh in the late 1950’s she became “Miss Margaret” on Romper Room at WRAL-TV. She went on to become the women’s editor at WPTF radio and had an hourly program called, “Time for Margaret” which focused on women’s issues of the day. From there she started “The Production Agency of North Carolina”. She had over 75 radio stations in North Carolina and 2 in Canada that would air her interviews that were based on a variety of subjects from travel and tourism to mental health issues. Her favorite occupation was travel writing. Margaret was a member of AWRT and was published in local and national magazines. She loved the experience of being a worldwide travel writer. What brought Margaret her greatest joy was her family, entertaining and her church. She delighted in hosting her annual Christmas dinner party and entertaining family and friends at her “cottage” at Emerald Isle.

Margaret is survived by her four children” Kimberly Kee of South Haven, Ms. Jenny Berry of Raleigh, David Brickell and his wife Sarah of Clayton and Kate Brickell of Raleigh and her sister Maury White Hereford of New Orleans, LA. Margaret also had four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s North Carolina, INC 1304 Navaho Dr. Ste 101, Raleigh, NC 27609. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Edenton Street in Raleigh at 1 pm Thursday, April 2, 2015.
