MATTOON — Alice Maria (Cocquyt) Vanneste, age 86, of Mattoon passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Funeral services honoring her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Church with Reverend Stephen Sotiroff officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Moline, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Schilling Funeral Home.
Alice was born on April 21, 1928 in Poeke, Belgium the daughter of Cyriel and Maria (Demuynk) Cocquyt. She married Raphael J. Vanneste on May 18, 1955.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Raphael J. Vanneste of Mattoon, IL; son, Ricky J. (Becky) Vanneste of Mattoon, IL; daughter, Jacqueline (Hans) VanHeule of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Marie, Joy, Jacob, Lucas, Sanora, Robbie, Elizabeth; sisters Martha Maertens of Milan, IL and Jacqueline Cocquyt of Ursel, Belgium. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Irene, Roger and Andre; sister, Susie.
Alice was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was talented at many things such as knitting, sewing and baking. She will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations in her honor may be given to Immaculate Conception Church or donor’s choice.
