Bedford re-brand efforts focus on Peaks of Otter to boost tourism

BEDFORD — George Washington and Thomas Jefferson visited Bedford County to see the Peaks of Otter, the three mountains rising above the Blue Ridge on the county’s western edge.

Sharp Top, Flat Top and Harkening Hill continue to be major features in the county’s efforts to draw tourists and the dollars they leave behind. A new plan to re-brand Bedford County, along with several nearby localities, would better recognize the range’s importance to tourism, according to Tourism Director Jerry Craig.
