NEW BERN, N.C. –
The city of New Bern installed new “wayfinder” signs pointing out major attractions for the city.
It’s part of its recent branding campaign.
But many people living in the city questioned how much of their city tax dollars were spent on the signs.
So we took those questions directly to the city.
“The city of New Bern paid zero dollars for the wayfinding sign campaign,” Colleen Roberts of the city said. “Those signs including the pedestrian ones you see on the poles here were the result of a grant from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and a donation from the Craven County Tourism Development Authority”
However, the city will pay for landscaping around one of the new signs located near the entrance of Union Point Park.
