Orbitz editors name Nashville a top destination for 2015

Tourism officials have been optimistic that 2015 will be another hot year for Nashville, even as the national media spotlight dims and more hotel rooms come online, driving down average daily rates that have been steadily inching up for the past few years.

The Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. is focusing on developing a few key domestic markets and continuing its international push to keep demand for Nashville high, and this latest recommendation should help.

The editors at Orbitz.com have named Nashville one of their top five picks for travelers in 2015, citing a trend for more leisurely paced, mid-sized cities and less crowded airports. Rounding out the list are Portland, Ore.; Asheville, N.C.; Salt Lake City, Utah, and Charlottesville, Va.

“Nashville is no longer just a destination for country fans. It has become a great destination for families and a hot spot for bachelor and bachelorette parties,” said Rhonda Osborne, Nashville market manager for Orbitz.com, in the travel site’s blog post.

The trend forecast also highlights a growing preference for boutique hotels, both independent and chain-owned, which Nashville is set to get a host of in 2015/2016.

Overall, New Orleans, Toronto, China and Cabo were listed as the hottest destinations for 2015, according to the Orbitz Insider Index, which looks at where Americans will travel this year and what travel trends will be hot.
